Super Simple Summer Tee
This simple short sleeved tee is the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. With just a little bit of lace to add interest, you can knit a top that fits you just the way you want.
The image is knit with the Subtle Shaping and 3 inches of ease. This results in a loose and comfortable fit with separate shaping for the front and back.
Try Full Shaping for a more tailored fit with separate shaping for the front and back, and then add the amount of ease that suits your comfort level.
No Shaping uses your body measurements to ensure that the sleeve, underarm, shoulders and neckline are fit to your precise measurements, but does not include shaping on the body of the sweater. Adding ease will add the extra fabric to float over your curves.
A simple eyelet design up the center of the sweater and continuing at the edge of the neckline gives this design a little bit of interest without adding complexity to the knitting.
Check the Yarn Yardage Estimator on the KnitFit website for an estimate of the amount of your you will need. Because your gauge my vary from the yarn label, and the length of the finished garment is also your preference, be sure to round up when purchasing yarn.
1 cirucular needle used to knit gauge
4 stitch markers
To get a true gauge, cast on 40 stitches and knit 40 rows. Take the swatch off the needles, and then measure at the top and center of the swatch.
Choose your yarn carefully. The model is knit in a cotton that looks to be a dk weight. Yarn that is 100% cotton does not have any "give" and the resulting fabric is heavy for my taste. The finished gauge is 4 sts and 6 rows per inch...much more like a worsted than dk weight. On the other hand, 100% bamboo, for all of its wonderful softness and drape can result in a fabric that "lengthens" as your wear it.
It is all a matter of taste, and your climate! I prefer a cotton blend.
