Summer Breeze
Knitting for summer wear is always challenging, but this sleeveless top is up to the challenge. Knit it long enough to wear over a bathing suit, or cropped if you like.
I've knit this top in 100% Bamboo from Theodora's Pearls and in 100% Linen. Both versions are great for steamy summer weather.
The simple lace motif is repeated at the hem and around the neck. Neck and armholes are finished with a single crochet to stablize the knitted garment.
Yarn Yardage Requirements
While we would like to offer a simple yarn estimate in our custom patterns, however, the amount of yarn you will need will depend on choices you make like whether to make the garment a cropped or tunic length. We've anticipated that, and we have created charts that allow you to estimate yarn needed based on your choice of weight as well as length. Please refer to our yarn estimation charts and read the article for helpful hints on how to estimate the amount of yarn you will need.
Notions
24” to 32” circular needles as indicated by the weight of the yarn used.
Crochet hook for the weight of the yarn used.
4 Stitch Markers
To measure a proper gauge, cast on 40 stitches using the needle size recommended for the yarn. Knit in Stockinette for at least 4 inches. Take swatch off the needles, lay it flat and measure in the center towards the top of the swatch. Knit using suggested needles first. Adjust needle size until you have a swatch that feels soft and drapey without being too loose.
