Build Your Own Pullover Sweater for Men
Custom patternThe Build-Your-Own is a classic sweater that we’ve designed to have plenty of options for everyone in the family! This is the ultimate customizable sweater. Of course with any KnitFit pattern, you get a bespoke fit with individualized sizing, and you can pick your choice of ease and garment length; but with the Build Your Own, you can also choose sleeve length and one of 3 necklines- all in one pattern! Plus, it’s a perfect base for embellishment. I added stripes to my samples, but you could add cables, lace panels, or anything else you like.

The Build-Your-Own for Men focuses more on the hip to chest ratio rather than shape from hips to waist and then waist to chest.
Pick your yarn, knit a gauge swatch and the measurement profile for the person you are knitting the sweater for. All of the options for sleeve length and neckline are included in the pattern.

NOTE: It is always smart to have a little extra, so if in doubt, buy an extra skein!
We recommend casting on 40 stitches and knitting 40 rows in order to create a substantial swath of fabric for checking gauge. The pitfall of the common 20-stitch or 4”/10cm swatch is that they usually have a completely different tension than a garment is likely to have halfway through the project. A large swatch allows the knitter to relax into a more natural tension—closer to that which will be used throughout the project.
