The Girlfriend Sweater
The Girlfriend Sweater is a slightly fitted variation of The Boyfriend Sweater. We've added subtle shaping to give it a more feminine look. It is a true classic: extremely comfortable and not at all fussy! It will be the easiest sweater you'll ever knit!
This V-neck sweater includes a classic v-neck. You can choose to knit the v-neck in the back as well as the front, or opt for the standard crew neck in back. Instructions for both options are included in the pattern instructions. Choose any weight yarn from fingering to aran...even chunky if you want!
Sleeves are full length and you may opt for an ease separate from the body ease if you prefer to wear the sweater over a t-shirt or by itself.
Check out our yarn yardage estimates on the KnitFit website to estimate the amount of yarn you will need.

The original design was created in a gauge of 4 stitches and 5.5 rows per inch in stockinette. However, you can select a yarn from fingering to aran weight if you'd like. Just make sure that you have knit an accurate gauge swatch in the yarn you will be using.
Note: To measure a proper gauge, cast on 40 stitches using the needle size recommended for the yarn. Knit in Stockinette for at least 4 inches. Take the swatch off the needles, lay it flat, and measure in the center towards the top of the swatch. Knit using suggested needles first. Adjust needle size until you have a swatch that feels soft and drapey without being too loose.
