The Peekaboo Sweater
This simple and classic cabled sweater is a great addition to any winter wardrobe. But look closely, and you will see that it has an open cable on the sleeves and a peekaboo open cable just under the v-neck.
The Peekaboo Sweater is meant to be shapely, yet comfortable. However, you may decide how tight or loose you want the sweater to be by selecting the ease you want added to your measurements. As the designer, I recommend a small amount of ease - about 1.5 to 2 inches.
You will need the following measurements for this sweater when you generate your custom pattern:
- Lower Edge Circumference
- Lower Edge to Underarm
- Lower Edge to Waist
Yarn Yardage Requirements
While we would like to offer a simple yarn estimate in our custom patterns, however, the amount of yarn you will need will depend on choices you make like whether to make the garment a cropped or tunic length. We've anticipated that, and we have created charts that allow you to estimate yarn needed based on your choice of wieght as well as length. Please refer to our yarn estimation charts and read the article for helpful hints on how to estmate the amount of yarn you will need.
Notions:
24" or 32" circular needles in the size used to obtain gauge
Cable needle
4 stitch markers
To measure a proper gauge, cast on 40 stitches using the needle size recommended for the yarn. Knit in Stockinette for at least 4 inches. Take swatch off the needles, lay it flat and measure in the center towards the top of the swatch. Knit using suggested needles first. Adjust needle size until you have a swatch that feels soft and drapey without being too loose.
