Trevor's V-neck Sweater
Simple. Masculine. It's just the kind of sweater every man wants with just enough detail to be interesting but easy to knit. Trevor's V-Neck Sweater includes vertical texture with knit and purl "stripes".
If he’s anything like mine, your son wants a comfortable, no fuss sweater. This is a true classic, with just enough pattern to make it an interesting but not complicated knit. The pattern is written for standard sizing plus one inch of ease for a relaxed fit. If your guy is a “Hipster”, you might try a adding just 1.5 inches for a tighter sweater. However, you can specify 3 inches for a more loose fit. Self striping yarn adds additional interest to this classic.
Yarn Yardage Requirements
While we would like to offer a simple yarn estimate in our custom patterns, however, the amount of yarn you will need will depend on choices you make like whether to make the garment a cropped or tunic length. We've anticipated that, and we have created charts that allow you to estimate yarn needed based on your choice of wieght as well as length. Please refer to our yarn estimation charts and read the article for helpful hints on how to estmate the amount of yarn you will need.
Notions:
24" or 32" circular needles in the size used to obtain gauge
2 stitch markers
To measure a proper gauge, cast on 40 stitches using the needle size recommended for the yarn. Knit in Stockinette for at least 4 inches. Take swatch off the needles, lay it flat and measure in the center towards the top of the swatch. Knit using suggested needles first. Adjust needle size until you have a swatch that feels soft and drapey without being too loose.
