What’s new in KnitFit

Fresh stitches: here’s what’s new and improved in KnitFit.

ReleasedVersion 2.6.97November 3, 2026

Bookmarks and highlights work on phones and tablets

Dragging a bookmark and adding a highlight or note now work with a finger, not just a mouse.

For knitters

  • Drag bookmarks with your finger. The bookmark ribbon’s grip handle now responds to touch, is easier to grab, and scrolls the pattern when you drag it near the top or bottom of the screen.
  • Highlight and note on touch screens. After you select text in annotate mode, the Highlight / + Note buttons now appear below your selection on phones and tablets, with larger buttons that are easier to tap.

Tighter account checks on designer tools

Designer and pattern tools now check what kind of account you have, and who owns a pattern, before letting a change through.

For professionals

  • Designer tools check your account type. Creating designs, uploading images, pricing, notifications, earnings, and the other designer tools now work only for Professional, Executive, and Admin accounts. Nothing changes for those accounts.
  • Only the owner edits a pattern’s settings. A pattern’s required measurements and stitch-marker settings can be changed only by its designer or an admin.

For admins

  • “View as” applies to designer tools. While viewing as a Crafter, the designer tools turn you away just as they would a Crafter. Earnings pages still follow your real account type.

Designer payments screens, Pro-side restyle, and safer whorl payments

The designer side gets its Get-paid and Earnings screens and a fresh look, and whorl purchases are more reliable behind the scenes.

For knitters

  • More reliable whorl purchases. Whorls bought from the Shop now arrive all at once, are charged in US dollars by card, and are removed correctly if a purchase is refunded. A refund only removes the whorls that were actually refunded.
  • Protection against double charges. If a payment for the same item is already in progress or completed, KnitFit stops before sending you to pay again.
  • Pink focus rings. Fields you click into in the knitter app glow pink; everywhere else they glow violet.

For professionals

  • Earnings page. See your sales history in one place. A Get-paid summary at the top shows where your payout setup stands and takes you straight to it.
  • Settings, restyled. The Get-paid card shows your Stripe status clearly, your public profile folds away until you want to edit it, and arriving from Earnings highlights the card you need.
  • A new Pro-side look. The sidebar and Design Library now share the knitter app’s look with a violet accent. The sidebar stays put while you scroll, groups open and close, and it can collapse to a slim rail. Template names show on hover instead of crowding each row.

For admins

  • Revenue after refunds. Whorl revenue on the dashboard now subtracts refunds, and purchase history shows how much of a purchase was refunded.
  • Teal current page in the sidebar. The Admin sidebar highlights the page you are on in teal and stays pinned while you scroll.

Designers get paid directly through Stripe

Pattern sales are now paid straight to each designer’s own Stripe account instead of passing through KnitFit.

For knitters

  • One designer per basket. Because each designer is paid separately, a basket holds one designer’s patterns at a time. Adding a second designer’s pattern asks you to check out first.
  • Whorls are bought on their own. Buy whorls from the Whorls tab in the Shop rather than through the basket.
  • Accidental double payments are refunded. If two checkout tabs for the same pattern are both paid, the second payment is refunded automatically.

For professionals

  • Get paid directly. Professional, Executive, and Admin accounts can connect a Stripe account from Settings. Pattern sales are charged on your account and you see them in your own Stripe dashboard.
  • Whorl purchases are unchanged. Whorls are still bought through KnitFit.

For admins

  • Per-designer platform fee. Admins can set an optional fee for each designer (the default is 0%). Changes are recorded in the audit log.

New Admin Dashboard, calmer colors, and safer designer text

A live statistics dashboard for admins, easier-to-spot notifications for knitters, and a round of security hardening.

For knitters

  • Notifications are easier to spot. Unread counts use pink badges on the header bell, Groups, the Home dashboard, and the Notifications page. Default notification icons match the app’s own icons.
  • Messages open in place. On Groups, a standalone notification opens inline, one at a time, with the full message and image. It works with the keyboard too.
  • Larger, framed thumbnails. Notification thumbnails on Groups are bigger and framed.
  • Calmer greys. Knitter pages use KnitFit’s own cool greys, and small grey text on light panels was darkened so it is easier to read.

For professionals

  • Notification images. The composer shows what knitters will see by default. A new picker offers This design, Recently used, Uploads, App icons, and Emoji, with square crop, zoom, and rotate.
  • Only the owner can publish. Only a pattern’s creator, or an admin, can submit, approve, publish, or return it to draft.

For admins

  • Admin Dashboard. Live statistics for sign-ups, patterns generated, revenue, whorls, promos, legacy users, and the community, with a “needs attention” strip. Cards can be hidden, reordered, and configured, and your layout is saved.
  • Test-account flag. Mark an account as a test account to leave it out of dashboard statistics.
  • Color System page. A reference page documents the full palette, its roles, and contrast.
